a polka band and enjoys home brewing, woodworking and fishing.
John Braden's pure tenor voice and musical skill have
anchored the ACS tenor section since 1992. A singer since high
school, John claims choir was a good diversion from physics. When
he is not singing he selflessly volunteers his many talents
including woodworking and gourmet cooking. His fellow singers
particularly appreciate his key lime tarts. John works as an
engineer for Conoco Phillips.
James Chesher has always had singing as a cornerstone of his life. He began singing at the age of 11 as a treble at St Mary Redcliffe Church in Bristol, England. At Oxford University he sang in several chamber and chapel choirs (whilst not in the pub or the physics lab). On moving to London he became a member of the London Philharmonic Choir, singing choral works with conductors including Bernard Haitink, Sir John Eliot Gardiner and Kurt Masur, in the major London concert halls. James works as an engineer with BP, and when not producing oil or singing he hikes, bikes and skis.
Deb Geeseman has been singing since her unsolicited solo debut in a department store at age 4. She sang in choirs throughout her school years, a women’s quartet during college, numerous Messiahs, and just for fun. She is a member of the Anchorage Opera chorus and has sung with the Anchorage Concert Chorus. Deb is a psychiatrist, providing psychotherapy for growth and healing. She is also a world traveler and loves photography and wilderness activities.
David Ianson
is a research scientist and university lecturer with 40 years of choral singing under his belt. He began singing in grade school and continued through a Ph.D. and beyond (in five university chorales, numerous madrigal, and opera ensembles). He was a professional Christmas Caroler and Madrigal performer, sung with the
Portland Opera Chorus, and the Russian American Colony Singers. He studied voice with Dr. Joy McIntyre and his day job is in horticulture and the plant/microbe interactions of native circumpolar plants.
Mark Iverson is a charter member of the Alaska Chamber
Singers. His 38 years of choral singing began in his mother's
church choir and includes the USAF Academy Cadet Chorale which he
joined so he could "stand at ease" for a few hours each week. He
also performed with the Anchorage Opera, the Basically Bach
Festival, Anchorage Summer Music Festivals, and the 25th Statehood
Anniversary Russian Choir.
Greg Kremer grew up in New Hampshire. He was involved in many local music festivals during high school, including four years All-State, All New England and All Eastern - experiences that solidified a love of choral
singing. He has sung with the Seattle Men’s Chorus, The Honolulu Men’s Chorus, The Alaska Chamber Singers and Anchorage Opera chorus. When not traveling, reading or in the kitchen, Greg operates a destination management firm specializing in logistics and special events for corporate and association groups visiting Alaska.
Jim Powell has been singing in Alaska since 1964, singing for one year in Fairbanks with Charlie Davis, then coming to Anchorage. Before that he sang at Kings Point (USMM Academy) in the Glee Club and at U of Michigan with Maynard Klein’s Cantata Singers. He has sung in many Dinner Operas and Main Stage productions in Anchorage. In 1970 he worked with Elvera Voth in revitalizing the Anchorage Opera, and in 1985 in forming the Alaska Chamber Singers. After 40 years of practicing law, he retired in 2005 and now spends his time singing and flying.
