A profound and moving program featuring "Eternity Passing Over - An Arctic Requiem" by Seattle composer John Muehleisen. The work was written in memory of Richard and Katherine Huffman, who were killed by a bear in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in 2005. The piece was commissioned by Richard's daughter and her husband, Shannon and Peter Polson. Ms. Polson sings with Seattle Pro Musica, which premiered the work in 2015. She also wrote a book - "North of Hope" - about coming to terms with this tragedy. A number of ACS members knew Richard as he was a singer in Anchorage. The text includes excerpts from the Requiem Mass, as well as words by Robert Service and others.

The concert will also include works by Samuel Barber, settings of Shakespeare texts, and traditional spirituals, including "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot."
